borntopay.rent exists to raise awareness around the ridiculousness of housing prices. A roof over your head is a right, not a market. Nobody deserves to sleep in the street — and whether we allow it is up to us, not to some invisible hand.

This is for people who work hard, who have families to look after or are trying to imagine one, who rent or are trying to buy. It is not for hedge funds buying up whole streets to sell back to us at a markup. We point the finger at the people actually driving prices up. Most of this industry won't.

We could focus on hype and sell you a dream. We're not. Honesty, fairness, loyalty — those are the rules, and they cost us something. There's no investor and no ad network. The project is funded by readers and by a small shop selling tote bags and hats, stamped with the rent math. Every euro goes back into the reporting.

Reasonable rent. Accessible housing. No bullshit.
